Fix MX Player error: this audio format eac3 is not supported

When using the MX Player, you may encounter the error "this audio format eac3 is not supported".

Error Reason#

This is because MX Player has removed some codecs, which affects audio encoded with EAC3, AC3, DTS, DTSHD, and MLP.

Solution#

If you encounter a similar issue when using this player, you can try the following measures:

  1. Use another media player.
  2. Convert the video format to one supported by MX Player before playing.
  3. Add custom codecs to MX Player.

To continue using MX Player, you should definitely add custom codecs to MX Player.

How to Add Custom Codecs#

  1. Download the appropriate codec from Releases · USBhost/MX_FFmpeg, and extract it.
  2. In the MX Player settings, go to the custom codec option and select the corresponding file.

You can also add custom codecs to mobile devices. For example, on Android, download libffmpeg.mx.so.neon.

Of course, you can use other codecs as well.
