When using the MX player, you may encounter the error "this audio format eac3 is not supported."
Reason for the Error#
This is because the MX player has removed some codecs, which affects audio encoded with EAC3, AC3, DTS, DTSHD, and MLP.
Solutions#
When you encounter similar issues with this player, you can try the following measures:
- Use another media player
- Convert the video format to one supported by MX Player and then play it
- Add custom codecs to MX Player
If you want to continue using MX Player, you should choose to add custom codecs to MX Player.
How to Add Custom Codecs#
- Download the appropriate codec from Releases · USBhost/MX_FFmpeg and extract it
- In the MX Player settings, under the custom codec option, select the corresponding file
Mobile devices can also add custom codecs. For example, download libffmpeg.mx.so.neon
for Android.
Of course, you can use other codecs as well.
