I tested all the Chinese AI applications.

I tested all Chinese AI applications as of February 1, 2025.

I only conducted a simple test of their information retrieval capabilities.

The test question was: Assuming you are a PhD from MIT, and you want to know how to purchase rice, please search for relevant information.

The AI should look for the following content as much as possible:

Academic literature
Announcements from authoritative institutions
Websites with a lot of quality content (such as Zhihu) and several literature databases

In the subsequent results, I excluded low-quality references.

Applications I tested#

Nano AI Search developed by 360 Company. Currently, this feature is integrated into 360 Search. After the user clicks the search button, AI intelligent answers related content will be displayed at the top of the page. AI referenced 30 sources, of which only 1 came from gov.cn.

Baidu AI Search - One-stop solution for office and study has only one source from gov.cn (from a city's metrology quality inspection research institute).

Tencent Yuanbao - Work easily, live more This AI application requires login to use. Sogou Search seems to call this AI. I did not log in and only used Sogou Search, and the results showed it referenced only four sources. One came from gov.cn (from a city's metrology quality inspection research institute), and one from zhihu (user article, with no authoritative source marked).

Meta AI Search requires sliding a block for verification to use this AI. It provides a large number of reference links, totaling 76, mainly consisting of Chinese references. Additionally, it found an article from doi.org and several pieces of content from zhihu. Some Chinese references marked authoritative sources.

Zhihu Direct Answer has fewer references, with the first few coming from Zhihu. One article marked the execution standards for rice.

Kimi.ai - AI Assistant by Moonshot AI provides a large number of English references, with a small portion coming from authoritative institutions (such as .gov and .edu), but it hardly cited academic literature.

Doubao - AI smart assistant under ByteDance has only one source from gov.cn.

Wenxin Yiyan only referenced three low-quality sources.

Tian Gong AI - A versatile AI assistant for chat and writing, deeper search, more colorful reading only referenced three low-quality sources.

Yuewen referenced several articles from zhihu, including information about China's national standards for rice.

CueMe is a product launched by Quark. This AI referenced 8 articles. One came from gov.cn, and several from zhihu (including information about China's national standards for rice).
